Learn. Reflect. Play. (in any order)It's a simple triumvirate that represents The You Space's learning philosophy. Learn. Reflect. Play. They work together, in any order, it's a successful recipe for growth and change:
LearnThis step is about taking on new learnings - whether they be models, concepts, ideas, techniques, skills or thoughts. Learning can happen in a structured way, such as workshops or training sessions, or in a less structured way such as reading a book or watching a show. It's all good, it's all learning!
ReflectThis is the step where you internalise and ponder - you take that step back, analyse and process, and make decisions on what to do or where to go next. It can be a short period of reflection, as little as a few seconds, or longer - days or months!!! Remember, it's all about you, so you reflect at your own pace.
PlayThis is the testing it all out phase! It's where you get to take the learning and/or reflection and go have have some fun with it in the real world - does the new learning work? What works? What doesn't? If you tweak it will it work better for you?? As you can see there's a bit of jumping from Play to Reflect and back again - that's why it's so much fun!
So, the triangle of Learn. Play. Reflect. is where it's at with learning here at The You Space. In some of the workshops or training sessions, you'll be encouraged to use all three parts of the triangle - over and over, and other times you'll be encouraged to go back into the world and Play there! It all depends on what works for you. |
Learning LawsThese are the 5 Learning Laws that The You Space subscribes to and promotes to encourage healthy adventurous learning:
1. YOU are the expert of youYou know yourself better than anyone, and you have a life of wisdom and experience, which means you have the answers within you, you just may need a little help coaxing them out
2. The only person you have control over is YOUYou can't use a "remote control" on others - it won't work. We all have our own personal remote controls, and they only work by us on us - you have the ability to learn how to use your internal remote control more effectively
3. Follow YOUR pathYou have a path to follow, and it's yours - it's never the same as anyone else's, so trust and embrace your own learning path
4. Learning is an adventureTake on the adventure of stepping out of your comfort zone - enjoy the twists and turns and ups and downs - that's what makes adventures so fun and satisfying
5. Respect is everythingUnconditional positive regard for yourself, others, and the learning process provides the best conditions for the funnest and healthiest of adventures
